often we, americans, like to think that since we invented rock n roll, that we have the market cornered.... which is so not true...... lately there's been a wave of awesome european bands from countries that i don't often associate with garage and/or punk invading our stereos and minds...... and one of the best records of the year might just be from this little known spanish band, MUJERES.........
MUJERES give all the SAN FRAN psych rockers a run for the money.... fans of THE OH SEES, TY SEGALL, MIKAL CRONIN, ROYAL BATHS and COSMONAUTS definitely need to listen to their new lp SOFT GEMS...... one part garage pop, another part brit invasion soaked psych, with a healthy dash of punk rock stomp and plenty of catchy fuzzy melodies...... seriously MUJERES came out of left field and i cannot for the life of me stop listening to their new album.........

and go buy it, even if you have to travel to spain to grab it...
